Designed by world famous fashion designer Adolfo Sardina, and “Made in America”, this vintage brimless “Helmet” hat (circa 1970) was also referred to as a “mod” hat, the style made popular in the 1960’s. Copied from a 1920’s style, Adolfo sold this hat through Saks Fifth Avenue (see markings and labels to inside band) “”Adolfo II” New York” “Paris” “Saks Fifth Avenue”. Other inside markings include “100% Wool” “Excello” and “Geo W. Bollman &Co. Inc.”. So probably designed by Adolfo; made by Bollman; and sold through Saks. Adolfo was a Cuban born American; born 1933, who designed clothes and hats for the rich and famous, such as Gloria Vanderbilt. Made of wool, the hat is black all around with copious fancy sequin design to the entire exterior.

The hat is in excellent and all original condition and was probably only worn a few times, if at all.
The size is a woman’s small; 6 3/4″ front to back; and 6 3/4″ left to right. It is impossible to measure the exact circumference diameter because of the irregular shape; a guess would be about 21″.

Outside measurements are 7 3/4″ front to back; 7 1/2″ wide x 7″ high
