Silver plated vintage still bank, circa 1960’s, depicting a clown with ruffled collar, big belly, and fine facial details. Produced by the “Lunt Silversmiths” Company of Greenfield, Massachusetts (marked on the underneath accordingly) this little penny bank would make a wonderful addition to collectors of old still banks or for those who enjoy silver and silver plated novelty items.
“Lunt Silversmiths” was established in 1902, and stayed in business at their Massachusetts location for over 100 years. The bank is in completely all original and excellent condition with just about all of the silver plate intact with no restoration, dents, or repairs of any kind. Coins would have been removed by undoing the slotted screw to the rear, albeit, I have never loosened it because it appears that it has never been undone, the bank is in near mint condition, and I prefer to keep it like that. There is zero wear from coin deposits at the slot either. It looks like it was never used.
