Unique Custom Made Hand Crafted Designer Golf Bag in Western Motif. Circa 1955

This is a very unique and one of a kind item; consisting of a Custom Made Hand Crafted Leather Designer Golf Bag, in Western Motif; all hand tool and dyed. Images consisting of Native American Indians; Cactus, and a mythological winged subject on the front panel. See the many images illustrated in the listing, which includes a highly decorated rain cover at the top of the bag which snaps and zippers into place.

There are two (side by side) zippered ball compartments at the bottom rear; a “small item” bag (golf t’s etc) at the top; a sweater/jacket zippered compartment on the vertical. All of the zippers are made by Arrow. There seems to be an opening on the side for an umbrella. There are also four numbered 1 thru 4 matching leather head covers, monogrammed “Robt. F. Craig”; and a Kenneth Smith leather “putter cover” with signature (see image). The leather and workmanship are top of the line; having been designed by early 20th century well known golf club and golf bag maker from Kansas City, Missouri; Kenneth Smith.

Kenneth Smith, born in 1901, was world famous for the fine quality golf products he manufactured; having made clubs and bags for the likes of Bob Hope, Mickey Mantle, Bing Crosby and Richard Nixon, along with several foreign dignitaries until his death in 1977.

The condition is excellent (almost new) having never been used. I purchased in an estate sale in 2013 of “Robt. F. Craig”. Craig lived in Oregon; graduated from the University of Oregon where he played football and track; after which he became an avid golfer.
