Fabulous, untouched, for the discerning collector, fine quality, late Victorian era, children’s menagerie play set of (18) cut-out chromolithograph die cut stand up figures of zoo animals, including giraffe, elephant, hippopotamus, monkeys, lion, etc (see images); each individual one is propped up and supported by an attached wooden block at the base. All are in completely original and excellent condition with no tears or repairs of any kind. There are no scotch tape repairs, and no touch up paint or coloring to any of the figures or the box (note the image of the backs of the animals to confirm!). The top of the box is in crisp original colors and vividly illustrates a charming young girl, with snowballs in hand, amidst a snowy winter scene. When opened up, assembled, and displayed, it provides a three dimensional panorama landscape for the young person to admire and learn about the different animals portrayed. The set is complete with all of the corresponding animals and the original box top and bottom. Because it was played with by young children, it is highly unusual and rare to find this set in this condition, especially with (18) cut outs versus the standard (16), making it a unique find. It is called “The Little Ones’ Zoo” and was manufactured by the famous and iconic “McLoughlin Brothers” of New York in 1905; the company having been established in that city in 1858.

it would behoove an enterprising collector, dealer, or decorator to take advantage of the opportunity to buy as many of the vintage tin toys that I have listed for sale; it would create an immediate quality collection, as most of these toys came, either from a long time premium California collection or from my own shelves. It would take quite some time and effort to accumulate toys this clean, authentic, original, operable and in excellent condition.
