Lovely original surface to these pair of classical Victorian solid brass andirons, with bold vertical turned and bulbous design to the post; connected below to horizontal iron log supports (billet bar). A vertical hand forged threaded rod goes up through the centered hole of the billet bar where it has been hammered and pinned over and then welded; ending at the top; screwed on to the threaded brass turning which has been sand cast into two parts and joined; all validates Victorian design and genesis. One andiron is 1/2″ higher than the other, attesting to handcrafted forged and wrought iron making. Andirons rest on cabriole type legs with a spur to each side, and sitting on ball feet. Please note the photo images in the listing to view this construction and nomenclature.
They are in excellent original condition with a bright patina to the brasses; there is no restoration or brass repair; —very attractive and traditional design; great size, suitable for almost all fireplace decorating applications; guaranteed to warm up and complement any hearth.
