Fabulous addition to the “crazy car” examples made famous by the iconic and “Louis Marx Toy Company” manufacturers of fine quality toys and established in New York City in 1919. This example called “OO-LA-LA” depicts a student driving around haphazardly with a plethora of writings and sayings on his car. Two riders are attached to the boot trunk in the rear and a satchel is attached to the driver side running board. Yale pennants adorn the orange colored wheels.
The toy is in completely all original condition with no repairs, repaint, or touch up of any kind, with colors predominantly red and orange, with a bit of black and yellow, and flesh tones to the face. Often found with a student or two missing from the back, or even worse “not working”; this example is completely intact and works fine (see video upon request). Upon winding up the attached clockwork key attached on the underneath to the rear chassis, plave on a level surface (preferably the floor anfd not a tabletop); upon release the “Whoppee Car” will go backwards and forwards and buck up and down in a haphazard fashion while the driver’s head spins around. Markings on the toy include “Louis Marx Co.” “I do not choose to roller skate” “She ain’t what she used to be” “Better n walking”.

it would behoove an enterprising collector, dealer, or decorator to take advantage of the opportunity to buy as many of the vintage tin toys that I have listed for sale; it would create an immediate quality collection, as most of these toys came, either from a long time premium California collection or from my own shelves. It would take quite some time and effort to accumulate toys this clean, authentic, original, operable and in excellent condition.
