This late 19th century miniature 5 drawer dresser was likely used as a salesman sample by an itinerant sales person who traveled the countryside promoting his articles, usually by seeking out merchants to take orders based on this miniature chest, or by leaving it on display in a merchant’s establishment to take orders from that merchant’s customers.

This American chest has raised and fluted side panels with lined and recessed drawer fronts and the original wood pulls. The drawer linings are pine and are tongue and grooved. The top backsplash is hand carved with a scroll button applied to each side and it “loosley” fits into the rabbit groove to each side. The rear panels are the same pine as used on the drawer interiors. A full width pine panel is installed in rabbited grooves to each side which separates each drawer, top to bottom. Overall nice original walnut surface.
