These Mid Century “Pop-Up” Opera Glasses, although referred as use for the opera, had a multiplicity of uses ranging from use at sporting events and the theater, to general use on hikes or anywhere magnification was wanted. They have about a 2.5 power and their slimline construction and “pop-up” feature made them very desirable, and rendered them of great utility; making them useful even in today’s world.
Made by “Fidelity” and sporting a black case liner, they fit well inside a suit pocket. a handbag, or pants pocket just fine. Press the front lever and they pop out to 1 3/4″ high; then snap them back into place to put away (3/4″ thin when closed). There are no other markings to establish their genesis; but they are undoubtedly 1950’s. They are quite attractive looking.
They are in excellent all original condition and the lenses are clear with vivid clarity to view the subject.
Dimensions closed: 4 1/2″ wide x 2 1/2″ deep.
