Beautiful heavy duty American made western gun belt and holster; with an attached shot shell tube. The pistol holster with riveted gun strap; and brass plated buckle; is held in place by an attached removable holder which can also accommodate different buckles. This is top of the line craftsmanship to the design and quality of the belt; with a tool and dyed running acanthus leave pattern, and top and bottom stitching the entire length of the belt. The holster is similarly and elaborately decorated, with a floral design, and held in place by a bold holster “wraparound” strap. With six professionally placed holes to the tail, the belt will accommodate, roughly, a size 30″ to 36″ waist.
One unique feature of this leather belt ensemble is the accessory used for storing and utilizing bullets. Rather than individual bullet shell loop holders, a shot shell tube is attached. Also called a “revolver speed loader”; circular cartridges, which held 5 to 8 round bullets, were installed in the bullet shell loop holder. These clever devices were patented and used in the late 1800’s, but utilized and developed more in the 1950’s for law enforcement, because they were quicker; and, avoided the time consuming and cumbersome use of putting in shells one by one.
The manufacturer’s identity is stamped “by Bill Louw” on the inside of the belt as well as on the back side of the holster The strap shell holder is also similarly stamped. (see images).
This fine quality Western leather belt was actually in use and “on the job” and is in excellent all original condition with normal use wear; no damage, no repairs. a superb example of western gear, skill ,and craftsmanship.
