Lovely American hand held fan; hand painted subject on silk with fancy mother of pearl sticks; each with silver sequins border trim. Done in the Victorian manner with the main subject depicting a young lady with a pleasant smile wearing a white dress; seated in a chair with her fancy bonnet hanging from the back rail; while two winged cupids, hand painted in great detail, are vying for her attention. The background to the left and right are hand painted in a white floral swirl design. The back side is plain. The fan would have been made circa 1890 and was used as a hand held fan and is sound enough today to be used similarly, or it can be used to add to your collection of fans and put on display and framed for decoration.
Dimensions: 17″ wide (when opened) and 9″ high. Closes to 1 1/2″ wide.
