Diminutive late 1940s “penny toy like” wind-up tin toy platform train modern and sleek looking for that era; it is hand painted and lithographed in bright colors of orange and yellow with a grey underneath and passenger windows outlined in blue.
It is more than likely of Japanese post war manufacture but marked “Foreign” because of the negative connotation directed towards the country of Japan following World-War II. Later markings would say “Occupied Japan, and even later would say “Made in Japan”.
The condition is very good, the original hand paint and lithography are in tact and completely original; and it works just fine. An original clock-work key is included. Made completely of tin.
Dimensions: 5 1/2″ long x 1 1/2″ wide x 1″ high.
