Diminutive Penny Toy Wind-up Coupe-Limousine by Tippco German Circa 1930’s

Pre-war diminutive wind-up Penny Toy made by The Tippco Toy Company of Nuremberg, Germany in about 1932. The license plate “TC 751” indicates it’s genesis. The company was established by Phillip Ullmann in 1912. Being Jewish, he was chased out of Germany by the Nazis in 1933, although the company continued to produce toys, albeit, due to anti German sentiment, many of their toys were destroyed after the war, making it difficult to find examples.

This toy is in so, so, paint, say about 75% to 80%; some scratches to the roof, and here and there to the body (see images), but it is all original with no over paint or touch up. It has no restoration and works great (see the video). With the lever on the trunk in the “up” position, simply wind it up by the lug on the side of the car (original key is provided with purchase); place the auto on the ground; release the lever by moving it down to the “on” position; and now watch the car go forever!!
If you collect toys or penny toys, this would make a nice addition. and it is priced quite fairly.

Note: short 10 second video of it’s operation available upon request

Dimensions: 3 1/2″ long x 1 1/2″ wide x 1 1/2″ high

Note: After 40 plus years of dealing and collecting toys, I am justly qualified to guarantee and present the authenticity of antique and vintage toys and banks; important considering the fakes and reproductions in the marketplace
