Great item for toy collectors and those who collect aeronautical items. Being offered is a very rare German Penny Toy from the 1920’s, manufactured by the well known, and quality toy maker. the “Kellerman Company”. The logo for that company “CKO” with the “KO” inside of the “C”, appears just below the pilot in front of the wing. Also marked in that same area is “Made in Germany”. (See all images and the video).
Georg Kellerman founded the company in Nuremberg, Germany in 1910.
The airplane is in all original paint and condition with no repairs. It is pale yellow, with a solo pilot; passengers look out of the windows on each side of the plane; the number “230” appears just below the pilot on one side.
The dimensions of the plane are: 4 ¾” long x 3 ½” wide x 1 ¾” high
I had a “Lucky Stunt” toy sans airplane “lying around” by the Marx company, New York City; made about the same period of time, so just for fun, I attached the Kellerman airplane onto the mounting wire of “Lucky Stunt” and wound it up (request to see video). It is included with the penny toy and I have not factored it into the price. It is well marked and has great images. The lithography on the base of the “Lucky Stunt” is wonderful with New York City, rural America, and New York harbor images; several period autos are also pictured. The painting and lithography is predominantly green and red with a red painted tower and a green top. Markings include; “Lucky Stunt Flyer, Louis Marx & Co. New York, N.Y.” and “:Patent Pending”.
To operate:
Wind up the attached key turn on the underneath and place on a table. The airplane makes several revolutions around the base; great action.
Dimensions (Lucky Stunt):
5 1/2″ high x 3 3/4″ deep x 11″ wide (includes airplane).
